Frances Andrijich takes us behind the scenes of her photoshoot of artist Stormie Mills.

– posted by Sally

Frances Andrijich is passionate about environmental portraits that capture the essence of her subject and do so in an environment that reflects their character and personality.

Recently Frances photographed the internationally acclaimed visual artist, Stormie Mills. Having photographed him for a number of years, she knew her subject well and in return was able to experiment a bit more with lighting and composition, and just have some fun.

Stormie’s unique artwork was the perfect backdrop for setting the mood of the shoot. The studio scene was dramatically lit with her Profoto lighting kit and light-shaping tools. ‘I wanted my pictures of Stormie to encapsulate the atmosphere of his paintings and his individual style.’

Zoe Wetherall’s world.

– posted by Kerry

As a recent personal project Zoe has been experimenting with 360° panoramic photography to create images that look like mini planets.

She wanted to create something different and challenge herself by trying a technique she hadn't done before.

A fisheye lens, panoramic tripod head, and special software are needed to achieve this effect, as well as the right location and good weather.

Birrarung Marr near Federation Square, and Docklands were her two locations.

Billie Jean is not my lover’s folio.

These guys Jolyon James and Raphael Ruz, from BILLIEJEANISNOTMYLOVER , are two of the most talent guys I've met in ages.

Photography is just the beginning of their craft.

Styling, acting, producing, carpentry they do it all.

The challenge here was to give their folio that edgy creative tone, yet make it accessible to the viewer.

Showing a variety of amazingly choreographed images and have them sit beside, beautiful simple imagery was great fun.

These are a few of my favourite pages. But let me tell you, this is just the beginning for these two. I can't wait to see where they head and where their energy and work takes them.

Lord Mayor Robert Doyle.

– posted by Kerry

There's that moment when Darren Lunny’s idea for a portrait has to be run past the subject.

Sometimes there's a lot of rolling of eyes and shaking of heads and other times it's smooth sailing; they agree on the idea and a date for the shoot.

Such was the case with Melbourne Lord Mayor Robert Doyle.

Darren ran his idea past the Lord Mayor and his Chief of Staff and got the green light straight away.

“I admit, it wasn't the most outrageous idea for him to wear an I Love Melbourne T-Shirt under his suit but he still has the reputation of office of Lord Mayor to protect”.

New online magazine - an ultimate design resource with interactive style inspiration.
A need to save on storage space coupled with demand for a highly interactive online design publication acting as an instant style resource was the concept behind soon-to-be launched magazine Est - available via website and as an app.
Editor in Chief Sian MacPherson says Est wraps up design in an easy-to-read, interactive digital mag available to read on the go wherever you are in the world.
