Exciting news that Head on Festival will now be offering the Head Off Landscape Prize and Head On Momento Photobook Awards.

Entries are now open with winners annouced at festival opening night the 17th of May.

Take a Bow is an exciting new photography prize for performance photography presented by the Ballarat International Foto Biennale, in conjunction with Australia's longest running Eisteddfod, Ballarat's Royal South Street Society. The competition will run in two sections:  Open and Youth [17 years and under]. The prize for the Open section is $1500 cash. The prize for the Youth section is a printer plus a digital camera valued at approximately $600 courtesy of Canon. Call for entry will open on Monday August 13th when full details of the competition will be able to be accessed at our website

Shortlist judges are BIFB Board member Heidi Romano, South Street Marketing Manager Emma Sbardella and photography portfolio consultant Sally Brownbill, who will select 36 images from the open section and 32 images from the youth section for the finalist exhibition. The winning images will be chosen by renowned theatre, dance and performance photographer, Jeff Busby.

The Bowness Photography Prize Entries Now Open

Entries for the much anticipated annual William and Winifred Bowness Photography Prize with a top prize of $25 000 close on 13 July 2012.

The Bowness Photography Prize is a national competition and entries are accepted from across the country.
There  are no thematic restrictions on entries and photographers of all skill levels were welcome to submit their works.
The prize is recognised as one of the Australia’s most prestigious awards for photography.

Jacky Redgate, winner of the 2011 Bowness Photography Prize said,
” The acknowledgement of my practice by esteemed judges as well as the feedback and
support of the arts community and friends has been an extraordinary encouragement to my practice.
The prize celebrates and acknowledges photographers in Australia. It was a highlight in my career.”

Head On Photo Festival’s Portrait Prize entries are now open.

Calling all photographers; emerging and established, to submit their most miraculous, marvellous and mind-boggling photographic portraits.
Win your share of approximately $50,000 worth of prizes.

Finalists’ work will be selected by multi award winning photographer Tamara Dean, Monash Gallery Director Shaune Lakin, ABC broadcaster Robbie Buck and Head On curator Moshe Rosenzveig. The ‘Critic’s Prize’ will be selected by photography critic Robert McFarlane.
Head On Portrait Prize is the nation’s major innovative showcase for Australian portrait photography, reflecting a vibrant, diverse cross-section of new and traditional photographic practices.

RMIT Sanpellegrino Cafe Society Competition.

Sanpellegrino and the Cafe Society has evolved over the past 10 years and has become an integral part of our lifestyle. 36 students from RMIT where paired with 36 cafes around Melbourne to participate in the Sanpellegrino - Cafe society competion. Students had an open brief - 'your interpretation of Cafe society'

Students had to incorporate one of the follow products S. Pellegrino 500ml. Acqua 500ml, Mandarino, Aranciata Rossa, Aranciata, Pomelmo, Chinotto, Limonata.

The final images wrere judged under the following categories - Interpretation of the brief, Concept, Creativity and execution.

Winners received 1st Prize $1,500 cash, 2nd. Prize $500 cash, 3rd Prize 250 cash and Creativity Award $250.

The overall winner is Irena Matic - 'The League of Honest Coffee'

Tarin Grey - 'The Pound'
Holly Hawkins - 'Three Bags Full'
Daniela Vasconcelo - 'St Edmonds'

Finalist - winners and exhibitions was held at the Docklands.

DEADLINE EXTENSION Australia’s Top Photographers 2011.

Sally has been given a special deadine extension for Photographers who would like to enter in the 2011 Australia's Top Photograher -Emerging category.

The deadline has been extended until 11:59pm 21 February.

However, any entries that don't strictly follow the submission and file naming guidelines will be excluded.
